Jose Higinio Ramos Solis, of Oakland, was arrested and charged after stabbing a 53-year-old man inside Cafe L'Amore at 455 Ramapo Valley Road, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Officials determined that Ramos Solis approached the victim inside the establishment and used a large knife to carry out the attack.

Police responded to the scene at approximately 2:56 p.m. and found the victim with stab wounds. The suspect had fled but was apprehended shortly after by Oakland Police officers near the location, Musella said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment, while the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit joined Oakland Police in the investigation.

Police have not revealed whether the suspect and victim were acquainted or if a motive for the attack has been established.

Ramos Solis faces charges of first-degree attempted murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree possession of a weapon. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first court appearance at Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.
